In this piece figurative meets abstract! I had been meaning to try new techniques with my acrylics in order to come up with new ways to create interesting effects. A couple months back, I heard about 'dripping'. For those who don't know, 'dripping' is you when spray water onto the paint you have on your canvas, creating a dripping effect. I tried it on this piece and just LOVED it. It was so much fun which for me, is the most important part of the whole process. For Sunset Drip, I used a blend of yellows, blues, and magenta which is one of my favorite color combos. These bold colors produced a landscape with some punch, which is what I was going for. I offset the bold colors with a cotton candy sky; colors one might see during a sunset. I got to say, this piece really speaks to me. I hope it speaks to you too!
