For this piece, I tried to recreate the look of something that has been spilled onto a surface; the same way one may drop a beverage onto the table.
Messes are considered mistakes. As children we internalize that making a mess is wrong and should not be reproduced. We learn very early that we don't want our parents to be angry or disappointed in us. But what if something beautiful came out of our messes? When we make mistakes, we hurry to sweep it under the rug and hope that we minimize the damage. However, what if there was something to learn from it? Something vital? Perhaps even something beautiful? 'Splash of Color' represents just that. The colorful spill onto a sparkly white surface represents the notion that something beautiful can come out of even our ugliest mistakes.
