I spent summer of 2021 travelling and exploring different parts of the province in which I live, Quebec. It was wonderful however, when I got home I needed to take some time to center myself. After weighing out my options on how to do that, black paint, a brush, and canvas paper felt like that best way to do so. Minimalism is a lifestyle and concept that really intrigues me and I wanted to apply this concept to the painting below. I tried to keep my personal expression to a minimum but instead found myself with an abstract cityscape. Although it is not quite exactly minimalist art, I am very happy with the result.
Can you feel the essence of the city through this piece? I'd love to hear from you.
